Infotel strengthens its Software division with the acquisition of Insoft Software GmbH in Germany
Bagnolet, 30 June 2011
Infotel announced its acquisition of the German company Insoft Software GmbH, expert in database technology. This operation strengthens Infotel’s Software division and is in keeping with the Group’s international growth strategy.
Insoft Software GmbH: expert in software for databases
Founded by two consultants (Günther Wichmann and Colin Oakhill), Insoft Software GmbH designs, develops and commercialises software for IBM’s DB2 databases.
The company offers among its leading software solutions, DB/IQ, a quality management software for applications developed with DB2.
Insoft Software GmbH works with leading German customers and is progressively expanding abroad where it performs 50% of its activity.
Based in Düsseldorf, Insoft Software GmbH employs 8 people. The company is profitable and had a turnover of close to € 1 M in 2010.
Objective: make Insoft Software GmbH the international distribution platform of Infotel’s Software division
Insoft Software GmbH and Infotel are present in the same market for DB2 database software and complement each other both in product range and geographical area.
Infotel publishes software that performs compression, fast unloading and loading, backup and recovery, or archiving and dematerialisation operations. In 2010, Infotel’s Software division had a turnover of € 5.4 M (representing 5% of the Group’s overall turnover), mainly with French customers, and around the world through its distribution intermediary IBM
Focusing on the international market, Insoft Software GmbH operates directly in German-speaking countries and in other countries through its network of distributors.
Infotel has set two main goals in the incorporation of Insoft Software GmbH: to regroup DB/IQ software from Insoft Software GmbH and Infotel’s Infoscope under a single offering, and to distribute Infotel software, including Arcsys, in Germany.
In the long term, Insoft Software GmbH is set to become Infotel’s international distribution platform. This strategic acquisition represents Infotel’s desire to extend the distribution of its own products.
A self-funded operation
The acquisition of Insoft Software GmbH has been done with own funds. The company will be consolidated as of 1 July, and will contribute positively to the Group’s 2011 results.
Publication of half-year turnover 2011: 28 July 2011 (after trading)
